U.S. Approves $780M Sale of Javelin Missile Systems to Poland
The U.S. Department of State approves the sale of FGM-148F Javelin Missile Systems with related equipment to Poland. According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the total value of the approved sales is $780 million. The packages, approved under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, now heads to Congress for final review.

According to the DSCA statement, the possible sale to Poland, valued at $780 million, includes 2506 FGM-148F Javelin missiles, 253 Javelin Lightweight Command Launch Units, missile simulation rounds, battery coolant units.
Spare parts, training, maintenance, and logistics support are also included in the package.

U.S. officials said the proposed sale would enhance the security of a key NATO member country in Europe, increase its ability to counter current and future threats, and make it easier to defend its territory against potential threats. The DSCA emphasizes that the sale “does not alter the basic military balance in the region.”
According to the statement, the proposed sale will improve Poland’s capability to meet current and future threats by upgrading its existing legacy Command Launch Units and increasing its defense inventory, thereby reinforcing its capability to protect Polish sovereign territory and improving its ability to meet NATO requirements. The DSCA notes that Poland already has these munitions in its inventory and will not face difficulties in integrating the new systems.

The sales approval came after Russian kamikaze drones violated Polish airspace and were shot down by NATO and Polish aircraft, and after U.S. President Trump said he would help defend Poland and the Baltic countries if Russia continued to escalate tensions.
In recent days, many Russian kamikaze drones violated the airspace of Poland, Estonia, and Lithuania and were shot down. Following the incident, NATO announced the launch of the “Operation Eastern Sentry” and deployed additional fighter jets to the region to prevent possible violations.
